About me

My name is Ali, and I am a qualified counsellor working in East Kent. I offer a supportive, friendly and confidential space where you can explore whatever is causing difficulty in your life.

Together, we take time to understand how you are feeling, helping you gain clarity, build confidence, and develop a deeper connection with yourself.

I work with both short-term and long-term counselling, offering sessions in person or online. Face-to-face appointments are available in Canterbury and Faversham at various times during the week.

As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I work ethically and with your wellbeing at the centre of everything I do. I welcome clients from all backgrounds and experiences, and encourage anyone who feels counselling might help to get in touch.

Alongside my private practice, I work within the counselling team at Pilgrims Hospice in Canterbury and as a specialist mental health mentor at the University of Kent, supporting students with a wide range of emotional and practical challenges. I am passionate about mental health and value building strong, trusting therapeutic relationships with the people I work with.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

Counselling with me offers genuine warmth, curiosity, and compassion. Sessions are guided by what you choose to bring, and you are encouraged to arrive as you are, without pressure or expectation.

This is a space to slow down, step away from the demands of everyday life, and begin to make sense of what is going on for you. It can be a place to speak openly, explore difficult feelings, and reconnect with your own voice.

My approach is integrative, meaning I draw from different therapeutic models to suit your individual needs. This allows us to work in a flexible way that supports your unique situation and goals.

I place great importance on the therapeutic relationship, as I believe feeling safe and understood is key to meaningful change. Finding the right counsellor is important, which is why I offer a free 15-minute introductory call. This gives you the opportunity to ask questions, share what’s bringing you to counselling, and decide whether it feels like the right fit, with no obligation.
