About me
There are times in life when we feel overwhelmed and our usual ways of coping don’t seem to work as well as they used to. We might feel caught in repeating patterns of thoughts or behaviour that are hard to understand let alone break free of. We might feel full of anxiety one minute and depressed and numb the next. It can feel confusing and frightening. Sometimes talking to family and friends is not enough or helpful, we might feel like a burden or just not really understood. Therapy can offer the time and space to be truly heard.
I use an integrative approach and work collaboratively with clients to meet individual needs. I draw upon several modalities, including Psychodynamic (early development and unconscious processes), this may well involve looking back at your past experiences and noticing they impact upon your present. Many people feel an initial reluctance to ‘open the can of worms’ but done in a supported and paced way, this work can be a powerful and enlightening thing to do, leading to real and lasting change.
I recognise that alongside the deeper work, clients also often want some ‘here and now’ help; techniques and practical ideas that they can try. Each client is an individual and I will tailor the sessions to meet your own needs. We regularly review the work together to check how things are going.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I am available for in person counselling on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I work in both Witney and Oxford.
I tend to work in an open-ended and client-led way in terms of duration. Clients stay until they feel ready to leave, so this might be for a few weeks or months; some clients like the regularity of this space long-term and stay for a year or more. I am also happy to work in a time-limited way, where we agree the number of sessions at the start, usually 6 or 12 sessions. I usually meet clients on a weekly basis and sessions are 50 minutes long.
Get in touch by emailing me initially with some brief details and I will arrange to call you and see what your requirements are. We can then go on to arrange an initial session.
