About me
You don’t need to be in crisis to come to therapy. You don’t need to have the perfect words to explain what’s wrong. All you need is the willingness to look at yourself more honestly, and the courage to begin.
Many of the people I work with appear to be functioning well on the outside but are privately unhappy. Many times it's anxiety they're struggling with, other times it's self-doubt, relationship difficulties, or just the sense that something isn't quite right, even if they don't really know what it is. That's usually exactly where we start.
My name is Alex, I'm a BACP accredited therapist, and I’ll be honoured to work with you. Therapy with me will feel welcoming, supportive, and insightful. I will provide a non-judgemental, professional, and honest space that will help us make sense of what’s weighing you down, and so, find ways to move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and direction.
How I work
As you’ll soon discover, I’m a bit obsessed with quotes. Here’s one of my favourites: “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening my axe."
In my experience, many of the struggles people face on the surface, whether that’s anxiety, overthinking, low confidence, anger, or unhealthy relational dynamics, often have deeper roots. Sometimes we know exactly what those roots are. Often, we don’t. Therapy gives us the chance to slow things down, in order to try to understand what’s really going on underneath the surface, and so, begin to work through it rather than simply managing the symptoms.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and active. Sessions will feel like an honest conversation, but one with purpose and direction. I won’t just sit there and nod. I’ll help you notice patterns, I'll ask the difficult (but important!) questions, and I'll support you in exploring the deeper layers.
I work in an integrative way, which means I adapt the therapy to you: your personality, your circumstances, and what you want to get out of the process. My role is to guide you and to create a space that feels safe enough for us to explore what may have felt difficult to explore on your own.
What I can help with
Over the years, I've supported many people with things like:
- Feeling anxious, overthinking and panic.
- Low self-confidence and constant self-doubt.
- Struggles in relationships: romantic, family, friendships, loss.
- Big life changes or feeling lost in direction.
- Neurodiversity, including ADHD and autism.
- And many more (there's a full list at the bottom).
Sometimes you might not even know what you're struggling with, just that you feel discontent. And that's ok. That's exactly what we'll try to figure out together: what and why, and how to get out!
Getting started
The next step is simple, just send me a brief message and I'll come back to you (usually within a few hours) to arrange an initial trial session, which will be free of charge.
You can do this! I'll be here to help you in every step of the process.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Testimonials from previous clients:
“Alex was truly excellent as a therapist throughout our numerous sessions. Alex's approach is clearly focused around the needs of the client and promotes an honest and explorative conversation around how to deal with difficulties in life. I can't recommend Alex enough to people who are either going to therapy for the first time, or who have had therapy before.”
