About me

A safe space to feel heard, understood and supported

Sometimes life can feel like a lot to carry. You might be struggling with anxiety, low mood, difficult relationships, or feelings of not being good enough. Perhaps things from your past are affecting how you feel about yourself today, or maybe you just feel overwhelmed and aren't quite sure why.

Whatever has brought you here, you don't have to face it alone.

I understand that reaching out for counselling isn't always easy. It can feel strange opening up to someone you don't know, particularly if you've spent a long time keeping things to yourself or putting everyone else's needs before your own.

My approach is warm, friendly and down-to-earth. I believe counselling should feel like a genuine human connection, not a clinical or intimidating experience. I want you to feel comfortable enough to be yourself, knowing that you won't be judged, rushed or expected to have everything figured out.

As a person-centred counsellor, I believe you know yourself better than anyone else, even if it doesn't always feel that way. My role isn't to tell you what to do, but to listen, understand and support you as we explore what's going on in your life together.

Alongside my private practice, my experience supporting women who have experienced domestic abuse has deepened my understanding of how difficult relationships and life experiences can affect our confidence, self-worth and sense of who we are. I recognise how important it is to feel safe, respected and listened to, particularly when life hasn't always given you that.

I also incorporate elements of CBT where appropriate, helping you explore unhelpful thinking patterns and discover practical ways of managing the challenges you're facing.

Whether you're hoping to understand yourself better, work through painful experiences, rebuild your confidence or simply have somewhere you can talk openly, I'll meet you where you are and we can take things at your pace.

You don't need to have the right words or know where to begin. Just come as you are, and we'll take it from there.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor with a Level 4 Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling and a Master's degree in Psychology. I am also currently completing my Level 5 qualification in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and I incorporate elements of CBT into my counselling practice where appropriate.

Alongside running my own private practice, I work with Fylde Coast Women's Aid, supporting women who have experienced domestic abuse. This work has given me valuable experience in understanding the emotional and psychological impact of trauma, the challenges of rebuilding confidence and self-worth, and the importance of feeling safe, heard and supported.

Throughout my counselling work, I have supported people experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship and family difficulties, grief and loss, and the lasting impact of childhood experiences. I understand that everyone's experiences are unique, and I believe counselling should reflect the individual rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

My person-centred approach is at the heart of my practice. I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly and at your own pace. Where helpful, I can also introduce elements of CBT to support you in recognising unhelpful thought patterns and developing practical ways of managing difficulties.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with their ethical framework.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
