About me

I help young people and adults who want to better understand yourself, improve self-worth, and explore your feelings in a supportive, non-judgemental environment by offering a space where you don't have to hold it all together.

You might be experiencing mental health such as anxiety/depression, navigating neurodiversity for example ADHD and/or Autism, having relationship problems or family issues. At a time where the need is so high, and the waiting lists for talking therapies are so long, I hope I can reach some people when they need it. Having experienced various forms of counselling, I appreciate that it can be confusing to know what is going to feel 'right' for you. I will work with you collaboratively to help you get what you want out of counselling.

-Face-to-face sessions in Hayle (aged 13+) Mon-Sat
-Walk-and-talk outdoor counselling in Helston & Hayle (locations in Cornwall can be discussed upon enquiry) (aged 16+) Monday-Thursday & weekends
-Email and online/phone sessions anywhere (aged 18+) Monday-Thursday & weekends

If you tried one way of working together, and it didn't feel right, we could always try another! I always keep fidget tools handy, and you are welcome to make use of the art materials supplied as we chat, as if you are anything like me, sometimes it can be easier to open up while busy doodling/drawing/colouring!

Before qualifying as a Person-centred counsellor, I worked as a Mental Health Advisor, where I learned that many people simply want to be deeply listened to. In Cornish, 'klewes' means to 'hear, feel, sense & perceive' which captures my aim: to create a therapeutic space where clients feel seen and heard and have full permission to feel your feelings. My approach to helping clients improve their mental health and well-being values empathy, authenticity, and acceptance. This means that all parts of you are welcome, even if it feels messy! Our work together would be led by you (i.e. frequency of sessions) and you are free to explore your feelings and experiences at your own pace.

My role is to be alongside you as you build self-awareness, self-compassion and self-understanding, and move toward your own goals. Drawing on my background in Psychology, I take a holistic approach, integrating emotional support with psychoeducation and practical tools where appropriate. For example:
- I am trained in brief interventions for anxiety and low mood for young people
through the Anna Freud Centre.
- Have Health Coaching Core Skills training
-I have completed Cornwall’s CYP mental health early intervention programme training, so I am able to support with:

-Understanding Neurodiversity and Emotional and Social Wellbeing
-Understanding Attachment, Attachment Insecurity & Resilience
- Understanding and Supporting mental health Challenges in Childhood and Adolescence: Anxiety, self-harm and eating problems.
- Impact of Adversity and Trauma on mental health and wellbeing

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
