About me
Vicky has a Masters Degree in CBT, is accredited with the BABCP and has over 25 years experience of working with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, eating disorders and religious deconstruction.
Vicky works with children, young people and adults in a goal-orientated way towards change and people really do recover.
Vicky is also an Eating Disorder Specialist and has years of experience of working within the NHS and privately, with mild eating difficulties and body image problems to the more severe and entrenched eating disorders such as Anorexia **, Bulemia, EDNOS and Binge-Eating Disorder. and Body Dysmorphia. Vicky has presented on Radio Solent Heart Radio, schools and seminars.
** Vicky has now stopped taking new referrals for Anorexia and low weight but continues to work with other eating disorders.
It is important to include parents/carers/partners in the therapy; either in the room or by opening up healthy communication with your support network. Therapy effectiveness is maximised when all factors are skillfully worked with, including physiological effects, family dynamics, poor nutrition, emotion coping skills and unhelpful thoughts and behaviours.
Vicky’s approach is compassionate but also challenging and generally people need to feel willing and ready to talk about the hard stuff and face what they may have been avoiding for some time. Vicky heavily relies on her powerful instincts and her years of training to bring about a total understanding of how problems came about in the first place and how they are maintained now, every day. In this way, individuals are empowered to change their lives for good and are often wowed at the clarity they achieve for the first time,
Vicky’s work in the NHS included Eating Disorder Services, IAPT and CAMHS as a CBT Therapist and Supervisor. Vicky’s experience in working with children includes therapist for fostering and childrens homes organisation and Connexions working with you young people. Vicky has worked with an Interpreter many times.
Although not a Christian, Vicky is currently researching Christian self-criticism for her PhD.
Vicky is a registered Therapist with most medical insurances including Nuffield, Aviva, Nuffield, Cigna, and Axa PPP.

Feedback:
From Client after 7 sessions 2015:
'Your encouragement and calm empathy have really helped me to 'help myself' and see all the positives in my life. You gave me some very important points of focus, which have helped me to make some changes and I feel so much more grounded and in control'.
From Client after 5 sessions 2016:
'I went so see Vicky for counselling after becoming very depressed and suffering with anxiety and panic attacks. It really is astounding how much of a life changer and life saver the counselling sessions with Vicky have been for me. She has helped me to see things in a different perspective and to move on from my demons. I now have more confidence and self-esteem and finally feel happy in my own skin. Vicky has a real gift and I would highly recommend her expert counselling skills to anyone'.
From Client 2016:
I've had CBT before but he tried to get me to think differently without explaining why and it didnt work. Vicky helped me to have my own lightbulb moments and was willing to challenge me; I got a lot from it.
From Male Client with Phobic Anxiety 2018:
Vicky has helped my Anxiety enormously over the last 10 sessions. I would thoroughly recommend her to family and friends.
