About me

Hello, photo_22062.pngand welcome

Looking for a counsellor or Psychotherapist can be for some people a challenging and difficult task; therefore I aspire to provide you with a safe, non-judgmental and confidential atmosphere and will work with you at your pace to achieve your goals. Your values and beliefs are respected while we journey together towards finding a more satisfying and resourceful way of living.

Over the past 24 years, I have been working with clients, of varying backgrounds of emotional and psychological challenges, such as depression and anxiety, sexual abuse and child-related issues, relationship issues, low self-esteem as well as issues of loss and bereavement.

I recognise that each client is different and will work with you according to your preferred learning style using a cognitive approach if you like to read and do things between sessions so that you continue the therapeutic process between sessions. For some clients, the arts may be more appealing, so I will use drawing, music & movement etc. or a combination of both depending on your needs and your personality. The therapeutic relationship is also a key part of the process in our work together. I will work with you collaboratively to design the therapeutic intervention that is most suited to your specific needs.

I work with a range of client groups. young people, children, adults and pre-marital & couples counselling. I work with individuals and groups.

As a Systemic Practitioner, I am also and includes the integrative; combining the creative and cognitive, that may incorporate a range of approaches. these include Person-Centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused, Therapeutic Play, Parks Inner Child Therapy (PICT) and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP).

I also provide clinical supervision for counsellors and therapists to support them with their therapeutic work as it relates to the needs of their clients. As a professional I believe training others in this field is the best way to extend myself in my commitment to the needs of clients and therefore I am a professional trainer in counselling skills and personal development.

My aim in life personally and professionally is to empower others to effectively design their own lives for excellence and purpose.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
