About me

Welcome, I am pleased to say that face to face sessions are continuing with some important COVID safety measures in place in the clinic and counselling room. Thank you for visiting my counselling profile. I am BACP Accredited and offer face to face individual counselling/psychotherapy in the Basingstoke area, Hampshire.

Life can be stressful at times and we can sometimes feel overwhelmed and less able to cope. Difficulties can arise at work, at home and within relationships that have a knock on effect for our well being.

Counselling offers you a safe and confidential environment to explore whatever may be troubling you and I will work alongside you to help you make sense of how you are feeling.

If this is where you find yourself today, please call or email me to book a free half hour initial meeting which allows us to meet face to face and for us to decide if working together is the way forward for you as I believe that in counselling both the approach and relationship with your counsellor hold equal importance. I am also happy to call you if you would rather have an initial conversation by telephone instead.

I work with individuals (over the age of 18) for face to face short and longer term therapy. Areas I deal with include anxiety, depression, bereavement, miscarriage, pregnancy loss, termination for abnormality, work related stress, pregnancy depression and anxiety, postnatal depression and anxiety.

I am based in comfortable and convenient rooms in

  • the Backs and Joints Clinic, Basingstoke, Hampshire, close to the town centre and transport links.

Areas covered by the clinic where I am based include Basingstoke, Alresford, Hook, Odiham, Fleet, Tadley and Newbury. The clinic is convenient for travel from Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire., close to Basingstoke town centre and the transport links there.

Often clients sense they need someone outside of their family and social network to talk through their problems with, as this allows more freedom for them to say how they are feeling than is often possible within close relationships.

I work mainly from a person-centred approach, being alongside you in a supportive and non-judgemental way as you explore your issues.

Please feel free to email/telephone me to make an appointment or if you have any questions about the service that I offer. or visit my web site for more information

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
