About me

Finding the right counsellor can be a daunting process. I am an experienced, accredited therapist and will work alongside  you to help unravel what has brought you to wherever it is you find yourself today and assist you to forge your path forwards.

Welcome, thank you for visiting my Counselling Directory profile. I am an experienced BACP Accredited therapist offering an online and telephone  counselling service. I work with young adults, adults and older adults to address a number of issues including depression, anxiety, bereavement and work related stress.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship is as important as the therapist's modality. We can work together to explore any issues/worries that you have and find coping strategies that work for you.

I am also a Traumatic Birth Recovery (TBR) 3 Step rewind Practitioner, supporting parents recovering from perinatal and birth trauma.  I am passionate about perinatal mental well being and work with clients experiencing perinatal anxiety, depression, birth trauma and pregnancy loss.

Counselling offers you a safe and confidential environment to address whatever may be troubling you and I will work alongside you to help you make sense of how you are feeling and to help you get back to feeling like yourself.

I have experience of working with young adults in a University Counselling Service setting and I offer a reduced rate for those aged 18-22 in full time education. Areas I deal with include anxiety, depression, bereavement, miscarriage, pregnancy loss, termination for abnormality, traumatic birth experiences, work related stress, pregnancy depression and anxiety, postnatal depression and anxiety.

It can help to talk with someone who is impartial and outside of your family/friendship groups. I work mainly from a person-centred approach, being alongside you in a supportive and non-judgemental way as you explore your issues.

Because  it's important to find the right counsellor for you, please feel free to arrange an initial 15 minute phone/Zoom  call so we can 'meet' and see if working together is the way forward for you, or visit my web site for more information. I look forward to hearing from you.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
