About me
Hello, I'm Simon, I am Integrative counselling and Psychotherapist therapist registered and accredited member of the BACP and also an EMDR Europe accredited Consultant , for both adults and children and young people.
I work face-to-face, online (Zoom, Skype, Teams) or telephone. I have undertaken additional training to enable me to practice safely in the current climate.
I have 19 years of experience providing therapeutic intervention for adults, children and young people who have experienced trauma as well as other presentations. I am qualified to degree level, within a wide range of therapeutic models.
Practicing has an integrative therapist with a humanistic foundation, this enables me to be creative and flexible in relation to the way my clients wish to work. I believe that for a therapeutic relationship to work, the client must feel supported, listened as they choose their pathway to achieve their goals. In my experience, it's vital that the client is in the right place at the right time with the right person.
My work includes supporting both male and female survivors of rape, sexual abuse, trauma attachment, PTSD / CPTSD trauma specialist, relationship breakdown, bullying, same sex relationships, self-esteem, adoption and identity issues, suicide ideation, self-harming, loss, RTA support, personality disorders, COVID 19 along with most presenting issues. I also work within the NHS as a psychological therapist within a local CMHT personality disorder team.
I recognise the importance of working within the BACP ethical framework and other professional bodies which informs me of best practice and professional integrity. I can offer therapy in the evenings, Monday to Thursday from 5.30pm onwards. online and Friday 12 noon to 8pm face to face sessions and Saturday Mornings 8 am to 12 noon. in my Southampton room. Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
EMDR UK
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
