About me

I am an experienced UKCP registered psychotherapist working in private practice in Bishopston, Bristol. I work with individuals and couples either short or long term. Over the years I have worked with a wide range of issues, if you would like to know whether I can help you with yours please do get in touch.

My approach

Gestalt is a client centred approach. This mean that I help you to get to know your inner world and your feelings and do not impose meanings on you. I help you to gain your own insights and encourage you in developing your meaning-making ability, and at the same time I will share my own insights with you. My aim is to increase a sense of autonomy and empowerment through awareness.

I work with empathy and connection, I am not detached or clinical. I try to stay constantly in touch with how you are feeling in the present moment. I work with you as a unique person and and address you as the person you are, rather than put you in a category or type.

Therapy goes at your pace and with respect for your current ways of coping and functioning. If you have defences in place which you would rather do without then we can work gently towards the point where you no longer need them, however other preparatory work has to be done first. At all times I am guided by you and how you are responding to my interventions.

The therapeutic relationship should feel safe and boundaried. It is a special relationship which is entirely for your benefit and where the focus is entirely on you. With time we can build up enough trust for you to be able to express feelings safely and explore difficult or shameful areas of your experience.

The first session

The initial session is an opportunity for you meet me and see what therapy is like without commitment to further sessions. You are welcome to use this session in any way you like, perhaps by bringing along an issue you would like to discuss, or by talking more generally about what you need from therapy and finding out more about me and how I work.

How to get in touch

To get in touch you can either email me or phone me.

I can sometimes answer the phone during daytime and early evenings, but if I am not available please leave a message and I shall pick it up within one or two hours on weekdays.

Where I work

I am based in Bishopston.

There is unrestricted parking in my street and nearby streets if you are coming by car. If you are travelling by bus the Gloucester Road is a short walk away. Redland Station is a 15 minute walk away.

  • Diploma in Gestalt Psychotherapy
  • UKCP registration

My practice is responsible, safe and ethical. I abide by the UKCP Code of Practice, and receive regular professional supervision for my work. I regularly update my practice with continued professional development.
