My core approach to counselling is the Person- Centred approach first formulated by the American psychologist, Carl Rogers. I have practised as a counsellor since 2001 and as a Clinical Counselling Supervisor since 2009. What does this theory mean to you in a practice?
I can offer you a warm, genuine, accepting and non-judgemental relationship. I work according to your pace and your needs and my hope is to enable you give voice to your pain and distress. I believe that every human being is a unique individual. Each person has their own perspective on their experiences from birth onwards. "One size does not fit all"! It is my task to empathise your experience and to enable you to make sense of whatever it is that is troubling you. I do not offer a diagnosis or a label. I listen carefully and try to convey my understanding of what you are expressing. I do not sit in total silence.
In my experience, sometimes, it can be easier to express yourself creatively rather than just relying on mere words alone. I can offer opportunities for you to draw, use clay or create scenes using figures and other objects. No skill is needed.
I understand that it can take a great deal of courage to make that first call.
Together we can explore what issues have bought you to counselling.
I have long experience of counselling clients on a range of issues including abuse of various types, relationship difficulties, family conflict, bereavement and loss, unemployment, depression, anxiety, low self esteem and addictions.
Both in my counselling and supervision work, I work using my extensive experience and knowledge with whatever is helpful to you.
I have long experience of working with people of all ages,(11 years upwards) creeds, nationalities and sexual preferences.
Counselling can be shorter(6-12 sessions) or longer term according to your needs or preferences.
I practice in a quiet residential road with free and unrestricted parking.
Canons Park and Stanmore tube stations are each about 10 minutes walk away. From Edgware station, you can take either the 186, 79 or 340 buses to Canons Park underground station.
I am also easily accessible from Harrow, Elstree, Borehamwood, Bushey and Watford
I am both BACP Accredited and Registered and I have professional insurance.

In addition to my private counselling practice, I'm currently employed by the London Fire Brigade as a Staff Counsellor. I'm part of a small team who provide sessions to any member of staff employed by by the Brigade.
In addition to enabling clients to process traumatic incidents I also provide support to people struggling with many other issues too.
Until recently, I worked as part of a specialist team at Reflections Therapy Services. We worked holistically with clients affected by childhood trauma, addictions and relationship difficulties.
My past counselling experiences include working at an NHS sponsored IAPT "Complex Grief "counselling service. I provided therapy to clients who were the close relatives of people who had died suddenly or unnaturally.
I also worked as a young person's counsellor at Signpost Counselling Agency for almost 10 years and as a school counsellor at an inner city academy.
I was also the Substance Misuse Worker for almost five years at a Hertfordshire -based Youth Offending Team.
In addition, I am a qualified counselling supervisor. I currently clinically supervise the work of individual counsellors at differing levels of training and experience.
