About me

Welcome to my profile. I am a qualified Counsellor/Psychotherapist and work integratively with theories from the Humanistic modality. I also integrate relational aspects of psychodynamic theories such as attachment and attunement. I have several year's experience with clients presenting with many diverse issues including anxiety, depression, trauma and problems from their past which materialise in the here and now of modern day life. I work from a Counselling Centre in Beeston, Notts and also have access to rooms in Derby City Centre.
Sometimes it may be helpful just to be 'seen', 'heard' and understood within a confidential, and caring environment. The therapeutic relationship can be extremely empowering, perhaps enabling you to make healthier life choices. It is my aim to respect your autonomy, to guide, sometimes gently challenge though never advise.
If you feel that you would like to meet me for an initial assessment please email me or take a look at my website at: It is important that you feel comfortable with your counsellor/therapist in order that you are able to build a good working alliance together.

Thank you for taking the time to read. Warmly, Kerry.

I adhere to the BACP code of ethics and continue with my personal development and training.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been counselling for several years and have undertaken four years of intensive training:

Foundation Course in Counselling Theory at Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute (SPTI)

BSc (Hons) Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (SPTI Nottingham) Accredited by Coventry University.

I worked on a voluntary basis at a counselling centre in Derby and in Beeston for eighteen months whilst I commenced training. I am now on the Board of Directors at one of those Centres.

I am a member of and adhere to the BACP Code of Ethics. I also work to the ACC code of ethics.

I undertake supervision on a monthly basis and continue my personal development through training courses and peer supervision at regular intervals.

My fees are extremely competitive:

£25 for an initial assessment
£40 per 50 minute counselling session.

There will always be a contract between myself and my clients which will be explained and signed at our first therapy session (not the assessment)

Further information

It is my aim to practice in a flexible way integrating relational, developmental and creative theories to suit each individual client. We are all individual human beings who have had unique experiences and my belief is that 'one size does not fit all'.

Our therapeutic relationship will be about empowering you whilst offering autonomy, personal choice and a way forward. It may sometimes be necessary to look at past experiences and how they may affect you in the present.

You will be seen in a safe, confidential and understanding environment, always at your pace. Self-care will be priority and always an important part of our work together. It is my aim at all times to work safely and ethically.

I am a registered member of BACP (MBACP) and abide by their code of ethics which involves up-to-date training in the way of personal development each year. I am fully insured and have regular supervision which is a necessity to work safely and ethically. I also have an up-to-date DBS record.
