About me

If you are dissatisfied with life, feeling stuck or experiencing difficulties then counselling can help you. I am a fully qualified counsellor providing counselling in a safe, confidential and supportive environment. I use an integrative approach to find the most appropriate therapeutic model for each individual. This sometimes involves analysing behavioural patterns and setting goals. Sometimes this is a more in depth exploration of emotions and experiences to find ways of forming healthier patterns and leading a more balanced life.

If you need someone to talk to or if you think you could benefit from counselling, you can call me or visit my website www.idylltherapy.com.

Training, qualifications & experience

I graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a doctorate in psychology. Since then I have been working with adults who want to improve their wellbeing by working through issues such as stress, anxiety, sleep problems, bereavement, life transitions, self harming habits, work issues, fears, self esteem, relationship issues, chronic pain, trauma and depression.

My research has given me an expert knowledge of psychological theories and models of stress and coping. I developed a new stress coping model which I presented at various conferences in UK and Europe. I am able to draw on this model and other multidisciplinary approaches to tailor my stress and anxiety sessions and workshops in line with each individual’s preferences and needs.

I am a fully qualified counsellor. I am a member of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy,  and The National Counselling Society. In addition to my private practice, I am a counsellor at Brent, Wandsworth and Westminster Mind and South Westminster Primary Care.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
