About me

First step done, you’re online and you’re looking for your counsellor. It’s not always easy and for many a big decision. So, to make the hunt easier for you, I like to keep it simple straight forward and practical.

I’m Yvonne, I’m a person centred counsellor. In simple terms that means I work with where you are at, what you bring and help you navigate your way through it. Less sat nav more old school map. I’m not going to tell you how to get there. But I’ll help lay the roads out in a way that makes sense. Together we can look at a variety of issues that might be coming up for you, whether that might be anxiety, depression loss or grief or childhood trauma. It might not be something you can or have labelled. Are you saying to yourself I have no energy no motivation I just feel off, or sad? that’s an ok place to start and we can work to address the feelings that come up within that.

For some it might be longer term counselling with a slower pace and for others you might be keen to approach things with more of a solution focus. I am comfortable working from both approaches and sometimes we need a bit of both!

My passion in life is people, simple as that. I get to go to work each day and be with people as they grow and change and find their way and it’s humbling and a true gift.

I offer a 15 minute free consultation call prior to your first appointment to get a little bit of background and give you a chance to ask questions. This comes with no obligation, it’s important you take the time to find a therapist you feel comfortable with.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
