About me

Hello, I'm Will. I offer talking therapy for when life feels confusing, overwhelming or difficult to face alone. I work with people from all backgrounds and cultures, including neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ clients.

You might find yourself here because you are experiencing:

  • complicated emotions about an ADHD or autism diagnosis in adulthood
  • a life transition or grief (divorce, empty nest, job loss, bereavement)
  • being stuck in a rut (repeating patterns, frustration, trapped)
  • disconnection from others (isolation, family issues)
  • depression (including suicidal ideation)
  • a desire for deeper self-understanding
  • low self-esteem (guilt, shame)
  • the weight of a major decision
  • anxiety (including OCD)

I understand that life can feel like an uphill battle, often with ourselves. It can seem unfair, presenting us with difficult situations that may lead to feelings of fear, hopelessness, heartbreak, anguish or misery.

This can be exacerbated by a neurodivergence diagnosis later in life, as has been the case for many of the people with whom I have worked, leaving them feeling angry, confused, and upset about a lifetime of being misunderstood, and what could have been, as well as wondering, ‘What now?’

My journey to becoming a therapist hasn’t been linear; it’s been shaped by real-life challenges that have given me a deep, personal understanding of what it means to feel lost, stuck, or disconnected - from oneself and others. Working through these experiences has strengthened my belief in human resilience and the possibility of meaningful change. It has also shaped the way I approach therapy: with compassion, honesty, and a deep respect for each person’s unique story.

Whatever uncomfortable feelings you are experiencing, you do not have to confront them on your own; I will walk alongside you as you navigate these challenges and move towards growth and change. Whatever is troubling you, we can begin to resolve it at a pace that feels right for you. Together, we can explore what’s painful, unresolved, or uncertain in your life, and help you to move toward wholeness, clarity and inner strength.

I aim to provide a warm, empathic and reflective environment where you can slow down, be heard, and meet yourself more compassionately. I strive to offer a safe and confidential space in which you can freely and honestly explore your thoughts, feelings and beliefs, without judgement - where you can feel understood and validated.

Training, qualifications & experience

Following a 20-year career in business, I requalified with a distinction in my Psychology Master's. This provided me with a solid foundation in my understanding of human behaviour, mental processes and the latest research on effective treatments for distress.

I am also a qualified Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor and BACP-registered therapist, meaning I adhere to their code of ethics and professional standards. My practice is supported by regular clinical supervision, which ensures both the quality of care I offer and my ongoing professional development.

As well as building my private practice, I continue to volunteer at charities dedicated to the wellbeing of their service users. To date, I have worked with a wide variety of people from different backgrounds. I am currently developing my knowledge, understanding and experience of working with adults of different ages who have been diagnosed with a neurodivergence.

Guided by humanistic principles, I believe in each person’s innate wisdom and capacity to fulfil their potential. I work in a relational way, combining my professional training with lived experience to help clients develop greater awareness, make sense of their difficulties, draw out their insight and courageously move towards new horizons and more fulfilling lives.

As an integrative counsellor, I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches to respond to your individual needs. I see the therapeutic relationship as central to fostering self-acceptance, significant transformation and helping you find a new sense of direction. My work is grounded in creating the right conditions for personal growth, while also exploring how past experiences may be shaping your present and contributing to unhelpful patterns. I take a holistic view, recognising the connection between mind, body and spirit, and aim to aid you in bringing together all aspects of yourself. I also work with clients looking for a quicker, more short-term and solution-oriented approach, where a focus on the future and specific goals is desired.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

The process:

Free introductory call

I offer a free 20-minute phone call to get a sense of what's happening for you right now, to establish whether my way of working resonates with you, and whether I may be the right counsellor for you.

First session

If you decide you would like to take the next step, and I feel I am able to provide what you are looking for, we will arrange an initial 50-minute session. During this session, you might choose to elaborate on what is troubling you and/ or what you would like to focus on if we were to work together. Of course, it is OK if you are not entirely sure, but feel like something isn't quite right. Following this session, you can decide whether you would like to proceed with further sessions.

Ongoing therapy

Sessions are usually weekly, at the same time, and last 50 minutes. Together, we will establish the boundaries, expectations, and framework for the therapeutic relationship. We then regularly review how the therapy is working and evolving.
