About me
Thank you for visiting my profile. You're probably wanting to know a little more about me and my work as a counsellor, in order to decide if you think I might be a good fit for you.
You can find more about my training and qualifications elsewhere in my profile, but the most important things for you to know about me are that I am non-judgemental, warm and empathic. I recognise that people are complex and unique, so I listen deeply and attentively in order to understand you as an individual. I appreciate that opening yourself up to a stranger can be a big step fraught with anxiety and vulnerability. I genuinely feel it is a precious gift to be entrusted with your thoughts and feelings.
Counselling is not just a job, it is something I passionately believe in, and its ability to be life changing. It is something I know from experience. I also know how powerful it can be to develop deep human connections where we can be fully ourselves. These connections can be the catalyst to understanding ourselves and bringing about change and growth. Counselling is a journey we go on together.
An initial consultation will help us get to know each other a little and decide if we wish to navigate this inner journey together.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained as in Integrative Counsellor, which (avoiding the jargon) means that I work in a variety of different ways according to a client's needs and goals.
I hold an Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, and am an accredited member of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society NCPS.com, working under their code of ethics.
I have worked for Cruse Bereavement Support; a counselling centre for women; a general counselling centre for those on low income; and in private practice.
