About me

Hello, I’m Vince. I’m a BACP-registered Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist based in Staffordshire. I work with adults and Young People aged between 18 to 25.

My counselling practice welcomes anyone. You don't need to have specific life experiences or fit any criteria. Nor do you need to have prior experience of counselling. I work with people from all walks of life, and I will welcome you for who you are.

I can help you with things like:

  • Anxiety, depression and low mood
  • Life changes - new beginnings, endings, bereavement and grief
  • Self-worth, self-empathy and inner critic
  • Neurodiversity - supporting mental health diagnoses and self-diagnosis
  • Job-related changes, career pressure and professional self-doubt
  • Relationships, boundaries and changes in family circumstances
  • Early life experiences that are still bothering you
  • Creative difficulties
  • You’re looking to find balance and feel more ‘you’ again

My particular professional interests are in the following areas:

  • Neurodiversity
  • Individuality and diversity
  • Generational trauma and unresolved early life experiences
  • Young persons’ well-being
  • Men’s mental health
  • Employment and career-related challenges

Whilst there can be specific life events that bring someone to counselling (for example, a bereavement or job loss), it is more often a combination of life events that prompts people to seek assistance. Every person’s journey is unique, and so my aim is to co-create with you an accepting and supportive therapeutic relationship as a base from which we can explore those aspects of your life which are most meaningful for you. To help you to achieve your counselling goals.

I know that reaching out for help is hard and can go against what you have learnt. I will support you at every step. From your initial contact, through being with you on your counselling journey and until such time that you decide to end counselling.

I look forward to working with you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

There is a popular misunderstanding in some circles, possibly because of the way that therapy is sometimes depicted on television shows, that counselling therapy is somehow ‘done to someone’. Whilst this may be true of a specific model of psychotherapy this is certainly not how I work. I am an integrative practitioner which means that I combine a number of therapeutic approaches in my work with clients. This gives clients autonomy in how we approach their counselling therapy.

What This Means for You

In my practice I will meet you with empathy and respect whilst we explore together how life events, past relationships and emotional patterns may be shaping your present here-and-now experiences. Together, we will co-create a space in which you can feel safe to explore how you understand your inner world. Whatever you are experiencing my role is to be alongside you. Not as an expert with all the answers but as a fellow human committed to supporting you in making sense of your experiences.

My practice is, in the main, informed by three interconnected modalities: the Person-Centred approach, Psychodynamic theory and Attachment theory. Together they inform a counselling approach that honours your individuality. You’re welcome to ask me any questions about these approaches but as a brief overview:

The Person-Centred Approach
At the heart of my approach is a deep respect for your autonomy and inner wisdom. Person-centred therapy is built on the belief that you are the expert in your own life. I offer a warm, non-judgmental presence, where empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard create the conditions for you to feel truly heard and understood. This nurturing environment allows your natural capacity for growth and self-acceptance to unfold.

Psychodynamic Theory
Alongside this, I draw from psychodynamic theory to help you explore how past experiences - especially early relationships - may influence your current feelings, emotions, and behaviours. This modality invites gentle reflection on unconscious processes and internal conflicts, offering insight into the roots of distress and the possibility for meaningful change. It’s not about digging for the sake of it, but about understanding what shapes you, so you can move forward with greater clarity and self-compassion.

Attachment Theory
Attachment Theory deepens this understanding by exploring how our earliest bonds - often with caregivers - shape the way we relate to ourselves and others. These patterns can influence how we form relationships, manage intimacy, and respond to emotional needs. During our sessions we may notice how your attachment styles manifest themselves in your life today, and we can work together to foster more secure and connected ways of being. This isn’t about labels, it’s about cultivating emotional safety and trust, both within yourself and in your relationships.
