About me
Do you feel you have exhausted all options to find inner peace, a sense of safety, contentment ? Maybe you are loosing hope that you can ever feel different to how you are now. If so, I understand and have supported people in the same shoes as you to connect with happiness.
In particular I work with individuals who have experienced complex traumas that then manifest as complex mental health, and high functioning anxiety. I work particularly well using specialist treatments for trauma. I have a good understanding of how complex trauma presents itself in relationships and I am experienced in managing dissociative presentations.
I am experienced in working with individuals experiencing a first episode of psychosis (including in the context of bipolar). Sometimes people refer to such experiences as an 'emotional breakdown' or a stress reactions. I am trained in the specific NICE recommended treatment, which is CBT-p.
In addition to this I have a special interest in maternal / perinatal mental health experiences, including mental health during and following birth, tokophobia (fear of birth), birth trauma and bereavement
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from University of Birmingham. In addition to this I hold additional qualifications in EMDR, recognised by EMDR Europe and CBTp accredited by University College London.
I have also complete training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused therapy (CFT) and Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT).
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
