About me

Are you feeling anxious or depressed. Perhaps you've recently lost a loved one or feel that your relationship is not as good as it could be. It could be that you've experienced or are currently experiencing trauma or Domestic Abuse. There could be another reason you wish to see a therapist to talk through your individual therapeutic needs.

How counselling can help:

When we talk to a trained therapist they are listening very carefully to what we say, how we are saying it and watching our body language. If you say something that seems very significant or your body language shows a conflict with your words the therapist will gently highlight your words back to you, or point out your body language to you, so that you can explore that further. It is also very good for our mental health to offload what is going on for us or what has happened in our past.

This type of therapy is called Person Centred Therapy, it puts you at the core of your own therapy, the direction of the therapy is completely your choice, you choose what to talk about and what is important for you. You can choose not to talk about certain areas of your life if you don't feel comfortable doing so.

Alongside this we can explore the way you feel emotions through Emotion Focused Therapy, we can do what is termed chair work where you direct your words at a chair as if a person you want to talk to is in it. I also offer relaxation, hypnotherapy and discussion work to find ways to help you to find ways to reduce stress and anxiety without resorting to medication. I am also knowledgeable in the types of medication available for low level anxiety through to strong anti psychotic medication.

What to expect from your first session:

I offer a half price first session, I feel it allows us both to see if we can work well together. During your session we will talk about what you want from your therapy. We will also discuss if you want a set number of sessions or wish to leave the amount of sessions open with a review every 6 sessions. We will talk about the the type(s) of therapy that may benefit you and and you can decide if you feel that you like my personality which will enable you to work with me.

Sessions are 50 minutes long, we would use these sessions primarily for you to talk with my reflections and gentle challenges to make sure you hear yourself. With discussion you may choose for me to use one of the other types of therapy I offer alongside Person Centred Counselling during your sessions such as hypnotherapy or relaxation.

About me:

I am calm, emphatic non-judgemental and friendly. I would be very happy to work with you through your journey at a pace that works for you.

I am currently able to provide face to face therapy within Cosmetic Beauty Clinic in Golborne. I am also offering telephone counselling.

I am an Integrated Therapist, primarily trained in Person Centred Therapy. this is a form of talking therapy where the two of us work together by talking through your issues with you choosing the direction your sessions flow in. If you are not happy talking about certain parts of your life that is your choice.

Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
