About me

Hi,

My name is Tracy and I am an accredited CBT therapist, counsellor, virtual therapist and clinical supervisor with over 15 years experience of working with children, young people and adults. I can offer both short term and long term therapy and this can be delivered in a number of ways to best suit your needs.

It is extremely important to me that people from all backgrounds, ethnicities and classes feel they have a safe space to talk through any struggles they may be experiencing, and it is my aim to provide this. As well as this, I aim to provide a safe and welcoming space for all members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and I will do everything possible to ensure you feel your voices are heard.

Reaching out for support can feel like a big step and it is not always easy to know where to start, but the fact that you are taking the time to do this for yourself is a big step in itself.

How can therapy help?

I can offer you a non-judgmental, safe and confidential space to explore the challenges you may be facing in your life, that are having an impact on your sense of well-being, and that could be getting in the way of you living your life in the way that you want to and deserve to.

My approach

As an integrative therapist, I can work flexibly with you and can draw from different therapeutic approaches to help such as person-centred, CBT, Gestalt, transactional analysis, VR and narrative therapy. I am also trained in laughter facilitation.

Difficulties I work with include anxiety disorders, depression, stress management, sleep difficulties, low self-esteem, body image, trauma, abuse, bereavement and loss, gender identity and sexuality and have vast experience of identifying and managing risk with both children, young people and adults.

As a cognitive behavioural therapist (CBT) working with both children, young people and adults experiencing anxiety and or depression I can offer you self-help interventions that can help you to make the connection between the way you are thinking about things and acting to help you move forward and reach your goals.

Virtual therapy (VR) can offer you the opportunity to explore things more creatively using both imagery and symbols, which can bring a greater understanding if this approach is a better fit for you.

As a relational supervisor I can offer remote supervision and have experience of delivering both 1-1 case management supervision, clinical skills group supervision and an integrative supervision approach to best suit your needs. (see my supervision profile for more information)

Training, qualifications & experience

Experience

I am currently working with adults within an NHS Talking Therapies service.

I have worked for a youth mental health charity in Bristol, working with 11-25 year olds for 7 years in their schools and outreach team as a counsellor, low intensity CBT therapist, virtual therapist and clinical supervisor.

I also worked as a support worker in nursing care offering both emotional support and coordinating activities for residents experiencing a range of both physical and mental health needs, including dementia.

I was a Samaritans volunteer for 5 years, working as a listener, shift leader and deputy director of the branch volunteer support team.

My counselling placement was in the liaison psychiatry team in the NHS, working with both inpatients and outpatients offering short term therapy.

school Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BABCP
British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)

The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists. BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
