About me

If you are experiencing the effects of Disability, Chronic Illness, or indeed Neurodiversity, then I will support you in looking at the meanings you attribute to your situation and help you unpack them in order to feel empowered and positive in a compassionate online space in which together, we will explore all issues that are pressing for you. Our working collaboratively can help you see things in a fresh new way.

My main experience is with the NHS (16 years) most of which was in Primary Care, which means I worked with a very broad client base. Earlier in my career, I worked with young people from 14 to 25 years old.

Having been a Psychotherapist for 25 years, I have trained extensively. I have lived experience of Disability and Neurodiversity myself which is why I enjoy working with people who are experiencing similar issues because I bring an added depth of understanding that can really improve your life experience moving forward.

I also have a particular interest in working with family members where your family are going through changes of what ever kind. That can involve where you or a family member may be going through gender transition, you or a family member may have a newly diagnosed illness or someone in your family, realises they are neurodiverse. And this also includes you or a family member going through divorce or separation, moving away from where they currently live or where someone in your family is taking an unexpected path.

I know it can be very hard to make that first step towards making the first appointment and the changes necessary to live a happier life. It is a process and can take time, but rarely, if ever do people regret it. I work online, so can be reached from literally anywhere, no waiting rooms and from the comfort of your own home. I have experience of using most online platforms.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
