About me

I am an experienced and qualified counsellor. I believe it is very important to feel comfortable working with a counsellor with whom you have a relationship built upon trust, openness and honesty, where you can feel at ease and accepted without judgement.

I offer an initial free telephone consultation where we can discuss any questions you may have around counselling. This is important so we can identify together how therapy can be useful to you.  Additionally, in the consultation, I explain how I work and what you can expect from me.

I am aware that many people are struggling with anxiety (GAD), and / or low mood  particularly younger people including those of school and college age.

I work with issues such as bereavement, relationship issues, health concerns, work stress, panic attacks, low mood, drop in confidence, self-esteem and gender issues to mention just a few.

Life’s events can be difficult to deal with at times. My aim is to offer a safe and supportive environment where you will feel able to freely talk about the issues that brought you to counselling. It is often easier to talk about these kind of issues with a person (Counsellor) who is independent from friends and family.

I am aware it can feel quite daunting to make the decision to contact someone. However you contact me, whether email, text or phone, I will get back to you as quickly as possible to discuss your enquiry.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have many years of experience counselling in a variety of settings including the NHS, Lift Psychology, and private practice, adult and children’s charities, schools, colleges and the Sexual Assault Referral Centre. I am currently working alongside Fear-Free offering therapy for victims of sexual abuse and assault . I also am on the panels of alternative provision for both Wiltshire County Council and Gloucester County Council offering counselling support to teenagers and young people.

I practice as an integrative counsellor, which means that I work with many therapeutic techniques and methods to suit the individuality of my clients.  These methods include CBT, person centred and mindfulness.

I have experience of working with young people (13-18 years) in both group settings and individually with issues such as anxiety, gender and sexuality,  low mood and low self esteem.

I also regularly work with couples who are experiencing relationship difficulties.

  • Level 1, 2 & 3 Certificates in Counselling Skills
  • Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling

I attend regular supervision and am committed to regular Continual Professional Development (CPD).

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).  I work to the BACP ethical framework.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
