About me

Hi, I'm Tracey and I am an experienced integrative counsellor and play therapist working with both adults, adolescents and children. I offer counselling to individuals on a one-to-one basis with the flexibility of both daytime and evening appointments in a comfortable dedicated first floor counselling suite which is located in Farington. I am a registered member of both BACP and ACC, adhering to their code of ethics in all aspects of my work. I bring a wide range of skills, specialist training and experience to my practice, and place particular importance on the interpersonal, therapeutic relationship between counsellor and client, and the unique value of each individual. I offer the warmth, respect and acceptance necessary in exploring life's issues within a safe and nurturing therapeutic environment.

As an integrative therapist, I am able to draw upon interventions from other approaches such as Transactional Analysis and Gestalt Therapy in order to maximise the benefit of the therapeutic experience for each individual.
I have had extensive training, and have a particular interest in working in the areas of both crisis pregnancy and post abortion stress. I offer counselling sessions to those struggling emotionally following an abortion. In addition to this, over the 10 years I have been practising as a therapist, I have worked with a wide and varied range of life issues including depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, eating disorders, relationship problems, childhood issues, bereavement and loss and post traumatic stress.

In my work with children, I use the Play Therapy model to help the child explore their situation and environment in a way which makes sense to them, whilst often having fun at the same time! I provide a wide and comprehensive range of high quality media including toys, teddies craft materials, books, games and sand tray.

I appreciate how difficult it can be to ask for help when things are getting too much. Do feel free to get in touch. I offer an initial free of charge 30 minute appointment for anyone who would like to explore the possibility of undertaking counselling.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have over 10 years counselling experience and am fully qualified with a Level 4 Advanced Diploma in Counselling. I have also undertaken a one year counselling placement in school as part of my Play Therapy training. Over the past 10 years I have worked in a variety of settings including private practice, schools, church and the voluntary sector.

I am a registered member of both the BACP and the ACC. I undertake monthly supervision and regular Continued Professional Development in line with the requirements of both the ACC and the BACP.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
