About me
I have over thirty years experience working as a psychologist. I am registered as health and counselling psychologist with the HCPC (PYL22752) and a chartered psychologist with the British Psychological Society.
I have worked with the full range of issues that bring people to seek help in counselling and therapy. These include anxiety, phobias, obsessive and compulsive issues, trauma, depression, stress, work based issues, relationship difficulties and couples work. I also have specialist expertise in the assessment and therapeutic approaches to neurological conditions.
I adopt a flexible client centred approach to working with people, using principles from the major therapeutic traditions (person centred, cognitive behavioural and psychodynamic).
Besides therapeutic practice, I am also an Associate Professor at the University of the West of England, where I teach on the professional doctorate course in counselling psychology.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully qualified health and counselling psychologist, with qualifications in each of these areas, plus additional expertise and training in neuropsychology, couples work and trauma.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Psychological Society
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
