About me
I am a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist, providing short or longer-term counselling and psychotherapy to clients. I have a wide range of experience in helping people to grow emotionally and work through challenging situations.
The areas of work I specialise in include:
- Low self-esteem, stress and anxiety
- Depression, loneliness and isolation
- Feeling stuck in life
- Relationship problems.
- Personal challenges and development - mid-life crisis
- Work-related problems - unemployment, bullying, retirement
- Troublesome thoughts, feelings and behaviours that are causing distress
Open and approachable, I can provide you with a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space to openly and freely talk through and explore your thoughts and feelings. I will help you reflect on what it is you want to change in your life and support you in moving your life forward.
If helpful, i can offer an initial low cost consultation session at £40. This would provide you with an opportunity to discuss your presenting issues and any questions you might have. Thereafter, I can provide flexible days/times, duration of the sessions, and reasonable fees.
To arrange an initial appointment, you can contact me by email.
Training, qualifications & experience
Following a successful career in business and education, I am a fully qualified and accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I have worked in a number of therapeutic environments with a diverse range of clients and provided counselling services for several established charitable organisations. I also run a number of psycho-educational groups, including self-esteem, assertiveness, anxiety and depression, life crisis, and mindfulness groups.
As an Integrative Practitioner, my therapeutic approach draws on a variety of psychological modalities to explore behaviours and beliefs which might be preventing you from leading a more fulfilling life - one that is more authentic and in service to you.
I believe that lasting change is achieved through a supportive, open and trusting therapeutic relationship between practitioner and client. I have worked with people from many different backgrounds and circumstances with a wide range of difficulties and issues.
I hold a Doctorate in Education and have worked in an education and training environment for many years.
My work is professionally supervised and I adhere to the ethical guidelines set out in the BACP/UKCP Codes of Ethics and Practice.
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Additional information
I currently work in a blended way offering flexible remote sessions (online and telephone) and one-to-one sessions. My fees start from £55.00 and in certain circumstances. I can offer a concessionary rate.
The first 'full' session will provide us with the time to find out more about you (including taking some basic information) and answer any questions you may have. I then hand the session over to you, giving you the space to tell me something about the difficulties you might be experiencing and what you are hoping to achieve in counselling.
Appointment times are flexible and we can work together to find a time that will suit your requirements. They will usually take place at the same time each week (evening appointments are possible), but some flexibility can be offered depending on availability. Thereafter, the duration of ongoing sessions will be fifty minutes.
I work in two locations: Surrey and London (mostly online).
Payment is due at the time of each appointment by bank transfer. With regards to cancellation, 48 hours notice is required to avoid full payment.
