About me
I'm Tom, a fully BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) with over 12 years experience in clinical practice, both in NHS and private settings. Although I work with a range of conditions, including Depression, Anxiety, Low Self Esteem & PTSD, I have a specialist interest in working with individuals struggling with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). My personal battles with OCD and depression allow me to empathise deeply with my clients, enabling me to provide understanding, non-judgemental and supportive care.
I blend Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with my own personal experiences of OCD, depression, anxiety, and burnout. This unique approach allows me to develop personalised treatment plans that empower my clients to achieve their goals for therapy and to reclaim their lives.
From experience, I know that reaching out for help when we are struggling can be the hardest thing to do. My aim is to create a warm, supportive, curious and confidential environment to help you to quickly feel comfortable with me and to begin to take the first steps towards recovery. The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists. BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
