About me

Hi, I’m Tom. I provide down-to-earth counselling that is rooted in research but focused upon you. Therapy is guided by you, and we will work collaboratively towards your goals. Exploring your world together, at your pace, we can build a picture of what it feels like to be you.

Through nurturing self-compassion and understanding, we work to develop the trust within yourself to make the choices that are right for you. I do not offer advice, or claim to have any answers, but through mutual exploration, grounded in affirming your experiences, therapy can be a catalyst for change.

Many of the problems we experience are rooted in our relationships, including with ourselves. I offer a non-judgemental space where we can explore these important parts of your life and the impact they have upon you. My approach fosters a new awareness of your relational patterns, empowering you to negotiate your difficulties from a new perspective.

If you are interested in working with me, you can book a 30min video/phone consultation as a starting point. There is no charge, or any obligation to book further sessions. Just call or email to make an appointment.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have helped clients navigating anxiety, relationship difficulties, loss, isolation, attachment issues, and neurodiversity.

I qualified as an integrative relational counsellor and psychotherapist in July 2024. I am a professional member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and follow their ethical framework. I am fully insured for the work I do and hold an enhanced DBS certificate.

My experience working in the construction and creative industries informs my practice and my strong belief that therapy should be available to everyone.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
