The Wellbeingbody Counselling and Psychotherapy Service

About us

You might be here because...

You're exhausted from holding everything together.

You've spent so long looking after everyone else that you're not sure what you need anymore.

Perhaps you've always been the strong one.

The person others rely on.

The one who says "I'm fine" when you're anything but.

Maybe you're questioning whether what you experienced growing up was normal.

Maybe you're navigating life with ADHD or autism and feeling misunderstood.

Maybe you're carrying grief, loss, anxiety, self-doubt, or experiences you've never truly had the space to process.

Or maybe life simply feels harder than it should.

Whatever brings you here, you don't have to figure it out alone.

Things can be different. We have helped many people find themselves again it may be a different version but it'll be a version you can feel safe, comfortable, confident and well in.

Therapy isn't about being fixed because we don't see people as broken. It's about feeling understood, supported, and empowered to move forward with greater confidence, self-compassion, and hope.

Contact us,

Our service offers affordable face-to-face counselling in Derby city centre, with a small team of dedicated therapists ready to support you.

Training, qualifications & experience

The Wellbeing Body is led by an experienced psychotherapist who is currently undertaking PhD research exploring the long-term impact of childhood traumatic loss and adversity, with the aim of contributing to greater understanding and improved support for those affected.

All of our therapists are carefully selected, supervised, and supported to ensure they offer more than professional expertise alone. We believe that meaningful change happens when people feel genuinely seen, heard, and understood, which is why empathy, compassion, and human connection sit at the heart of everything we do.

All of our therapists are Masters graduates or studying on a masters course.

Our approach to therapy is trauma-informed, integrative meaning we adapt therapy to suit your needs not expecting you to fit therapy, and person-centred, taking into account emotional wellbeing alongside physical health, social environments, and access to support or resources.

In sessions, we work collaboratively to explore patterns and protective strategies that may have helped in the past but may now feel like they are holding you back. Where helpful, creative therapeutic tools such as drawing or visual exploration can be used to help express and process emotions when words feel difficult.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.
