About me

Life can seem difficult or even overwhelming at times.  When we feel this way counselling can provide the space for you to share the difficulties you're experiencing.  And by understanding these problems more clearly, you can start to make the changes you seek and start to live more fully.

I’m an experienced, BACP registered counsellor who offers an empathic, non-judgemental space where you can talk freely and confidentially and together we can explore and work through these issues that trouble you.

How counselling works
As we explore your worries and the underlying issues, you will gain insight into your emotional reactions and behavioural patterns and begin to build a new self-awareness.  This provides you with new ways of responding to situations you find difficult and also helps you develop more of a say in how you lead your life moving forward.

My approach
I’ve been trained in various therapeutic schools (this is called an 'integrative' approach). This enables me to tailor the therapy to the specific needs of each client.  My training base is 'humanistic' which means I take a holistic view of the person and aim to help them connect authentically with their internal, often under-used resources.

I'm also trained in 'psychodynamic' counselling which believes that the past has often had significant influence on how you live your life today. This approach can provide valuable self-knowledge, enabling you to better understand yourself and adapt to events in the present and the future.

Next step?
Contact me to book an initial consultation where we can discuss what brings you to counselling and the kind of help you're after.  I'll explain the counselling I offer and answer any questions you may have.  If we both feel you could benefit from us working together, we'll talk about possible weekly timings.

I work out of comfortable and conveniently located consulting rooms in Victoria, London and Brighton. The first consultation is at half the price of a normal session fee - see below.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me and I'll be happy to help.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
