About me

A warm welcome to TW. Counselling.

Are you searching for a therapist

Life can be difficult, sometimes we can feel lost, and know deep inside we have to reach out to seek help. Taking the first step can feel like a mountain to climb, and yet once we take that step, the mountain shrinks a little.

To be listened to and really heard can make a huge difference. Through therapy we can come to realise we can do this, we can learn to find our own way.

Therapy is often about small steps towards taking back control of our own lives. As a therapist I'll walk with you, empathically listening, in a non-judgmental respectful manner, not offering advice, but with you as you negotiate the issues and difficulties you're struggling with.

Who am I

My name is Terry, I am a person-centred counsellor, this approach has the belief that a human being given the right conditions, has the ability to find positive way forward and find their own true self.

In my practise I can adapt to use an eclectic approach, encompassing  solution focused therapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) utilising various interventions such as alternative thinking, confidence building, grounding, mindful spiritual thought, breathing techniques, and methods to help cope with trauma, such as the rewind technique for PTSD.

I am also open to relationship and couples counselling. Relationships, in whatever form they come, can be complicated, it might be as a couple you've lost your way, or perhaps there's been a breakdown in communication with a relative . Therapy can help you both find your own answers, and find the right path.

Additionally, I have 20 years' experience as a qualified traditional Hatha Yoga teacher, with the ability to utilise a variety of practises such as: Asanas (postures), relaxation, breathing techniques, and spiritual philosophy.  With this background it has helped me take a calm philosophical approach to life, which has been invaluable.

For more details on possible counselling feel free to call, text or drop me line to arrange a free initial chat.

BACP

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
