About me

Do you find yourself lying awake at night, worrying? Has life lost its spark, leaving even simple tasks feeling like a struggle? You’re not alone. Life can sometimes feel overwhelming—whether it’s navigating relationships, work pressures, grief, stress, or self-doubt, we all face challenges at different points in our lives. You might be considering counselling for many reasons, such as:

  • Facing a tough period in your life and needing a safe space to share your thoughts.
  • Struggling to make a decision and wanting support to explore your options.
  • Wishing to make changes in your life but finding it harder than you expected.
  • Reflecting on past experiences that you’d like to understand better and move forward from.

Speaking your thoughts aloud to someone can often bring clarity and a sense of relief. Yet, you might worry about being judged, adding to the burdens of loved ones, or your private struggles being shared with others. That’s where I can help. I provide a confidential, non-judgemental, and supportive environment where you can truly be yourself.

Together, we can work on:

  • Handling overwhelming emotions.
  • Building confidence in social situations.
  • Managing stress, insomnia, and other concerns.
  • Developing assertiveness and resilience.
  • Lightening the weight of worry and low mood.
  • Gaining practical tools to navigate life’s challenges with greater ease.

I’m here to support you in developing the skills to manage worry, improve communication, embrace self-acceptance, and address lifestyle concerns like time management and decision-making. Let’s work together to help you feel more in control and resilient for the road ahead.

Training, qualifications & experience

I bring a blend of professional expertise and personal understanding to my counselling practice. I hold a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), a Diploma in Integrative Therapeutic Counselling, a BSc in Psychology, and a Certificate in Online & Telephone Counselling. These qualifications allow me to tailor our sessions in a way that best meets your unique needs.

Over the years, I’ve gained valuable experience counselling and assessing clients through charities and private agencies, working online, over the phone, and face-to-face. My time as a listener with the Samaritans further deepened my appreciation for the importance of being truly heard and understood.

Before becoming a counsellor, I spent many years in office environments, particularly in legal settings. This gave me firsthand insight into the challenges of 9-to-5 work, the demands of deadline-driven roles, commuting, and the quest for work-life balance, allowing me to empathize deeply with those navigating similar challenges.

Having relocated from New Zealand to London and travelled extensively, I also understand the emotional complexities of emigration—navigating homesickness, culture shock, identity, and belonging, as well as maintaining long-distance friendships and family connections. These experiences have shaped my empathetic approach to supporting clients through life’s transitions.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

Sessions are 60 minutes long and typically take place on a weekly basis. While I don’t currently offer face-to-face counselling, I provide support online or by telephone to suit your preferences and needs.

You’re welcome to choose open-ended counselling, continuing for as long as you find it helpful, or we can agree on a specific time-frame and review together as we go.

Our first session will be a chance to explore your current situation, how you arrived here, and what you hope to achieve through counselling. This session may feel more structured as we lay the foundation for our work together. Subsequent sessions will flow more naturally as we delve into what’s most important to you.

Feel free to get in touch—I’d be happy to arrange a call so we can discuss how we can work together.
