About me
You Don't Have to Figure This Out Alone
Sometimes life asks more of us than we feel we can give. You may be living with anxiety, depression, or grief, or a deeper, harder-to-name sense that something has shifted and you can't find your way back to yourself.
Perhaps you're managing the particular exhaustion of ADHD or autism in a world not always built for you. Perhaps you're carrying others whilst neglecting your own needs, or moving through a transition that has left you unsteady and unsure.
Whatever brings you here, I want you to know: you are welcome exactly as you are. This is a space where you don't need to perform or explain yourself away.
About Me
I'm Teresa Johnston, a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor, Mindfulness Teacher, and former Therapy Radiographer with over eighteen years in healthcare. I hold a Master's in Psychology from the University of Stirling, and I bring both clinical depth and quiet human warmth to every session.
My career has moved through the NHS, Maggie's Centres supporting those living with cancer, and now private practice at Callendar House in Falkirk, as well as online throughout the UK. That journey has taught me that healing is both art and science, born not from technique alone, but from genuine presence, honesty, and human connection.
How I Work
My approach is Person-Centred and mindfulness-informed. I don't label or diagnose; I meet you as you are. Together, we move at your pace, untangling what hurts, discovering what strengthens you, and slowly building the self-trust that allows real change to take root.
Sessions offer a grounded, unhurried atmosphere where curiosity replaces judgement and small steps create meaningful shifts. I draw on mindfulness, psychoeducation, and compassion-based tools to support your process, particularly when working with anxiety, depression, neurodiversity, health anxiety, grief, and burnout.
My practice is fully inclusive and LGBTQ+ affirming. I work with people across all identities, orientations, and life experiences, and I welcome you into this space without condition or assumption.
What My Clients Often Find
Clients often describe feeling calmer, more self-aware, and more confident: in setting boundaries, making choices, and trusting themselves again.
Therapy can help you rediscover what I think of as your quiet centre: the steadiness beneath the noise that was always there, waiting. It is not about becoming someone new. It is about coming home to who you already are.

Why Work With Me
Therapy is an act of courage, a turning toward yourself rather than away. I bring not only professional training but the lived compassion that grows from years spent with people in their most vulnerable moments.
My role is not to fix you. It is to walk beside you, steadily and without judgement, as you rediscover your own strength, wisdom, and capacity for peace.
I am a registered member of COSCA and the BACP, with specialist experience supporting neurodiverse adults, carers, and those living with long-term health conditions.
Practicalities
Sessions are available in person at Callendar House, Falkirk, or online throughout the UK. I regularly work with clients across Scotland including Edinburgh, Stirling, and Glasgow, in-person.
If you're curious about whether therapy might help, I warmly invite you to reach out. We can arrange a short introductory call, with no pressure or obligation, to see if we're a good fit.
Thank you for finding your way here.
I look forward to meeting you, whoever and however you are, right now.

Many of the people I work with live with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, or dyspraxia, or are navigating grief after illness or caregiving. My work is inclusive, trauma-aware, and tailored to each person’s unique strengths and challenges.
My postgraduate research explored the impact of mindfulness-based therapy on wellbeing, stress reduction and sleep quality in long-term carers, deepening my commitment to integrating evidence-based mindfulness and compassion-based approaches into counselling practice. I bring this work into sessions with adults seeking support for grief, anxiety, and emotional distress in Falkirk, Stirling, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and across Scotland and the UK online.
Member organisations
COSCA is the professional body for counselling and psychotherapy in Scotland, and seeks to advance all forms of counselling and psychotherapy and the use of counselling skills by promoting best practice and through the delivery of a range of sustainable services. COSCA Counsellor Accreditation is a pathway to entry onto the UKRC. It is a requirement of all individual and organisational members of COSCA to abide by its Statement of Ethics and Code of Practice and be accountable to the Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
