Humanistic Integrative Counsellor MNCPS (Acc.)

About me

Hi, I’m Tanya.

I’m a Humanistic Integrative counsellor, passionate about helping people get where they want to be – whether that’s feeling calmer, more motivated, more joyful, having more energy, or having better relationships with themselves and others.

What I can help with

Although I work with a range of issues, I predominantly support clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, or relationship and family difficulties.

You may feel, like many of my clients, exhausted by the constant worry that something horrible is about to happen – “what if they don’t call?”, “what if they don’t want to see me?”, “what if they leave me?” – and fearing that you won’t be able to cope. Or perhaps you’re so overwhelmed by the demands on your time that even a small request like “can you get some milk, please?” makes your chest tighten and your heart beat faster.

You may have noticed that your low mood isn’t shifting – the book you were excited to read is still sitting on the shelf weeks later, or you’re cancelling plans and only going out when you absolutely have to.

And for some, it’s relationship or family dynamics that feel the most challenging – maybe your anxiety rises as soon as you’re in a relationship, or interactions with friends or family escalate quickly, leaving you feeling dismissed, unheard or misunderstood.

Whatever you’re facing, you are unique, and so are your experiences. It would be my privilege to support you.

How counselling with me can help

My approach blends my professional training, knowledge, and my lived experience, and is adapted to each client. Some people come to me because they want practical tools to help reduce and manage their anxiety and depression and this can range from grounding techniques and breathing exercises to noticing, questioning and modifying their thoughts and behaviours.

With others, our work involves going back to childhood experiences to understand how the past might be shaping the present.

We will decide collaboratively how we work. It will always be at a pace and depth that feels right for you and in line with what you’re hoping for from counselling.

How I work

I offer in-person, online, and telephone counselling..

  • In-person sessions take place in a comfortable, private room in the BH8 area of Bournemouth.
  • Online sessions are usually held on Zoom, though I’m happy to use a different platform if that’s easier for you.
  • I offer Single Session Therapy (SST), short and long-term counselling.
