About me
Hi, my name is Tarana.
I am an experienced counsellor and mental health practitioner. I work mainly with adults who are living with the impact of trauma or difficult past experiences. This usually shows up as overthinking, emotional overwhelm, people-pleasing, low self-worth, difficulties with trust or boundaries, or feeling like you are spiralling and constantly on edge. You may also be navigating identity, cultural expectations, migration, or the experience of feeling caught between different worlds.
I understand how difficult it can feel to reach out for support, especially when trust has been broken, when you feel misunderstood, or when life has left you feeling disconnected, stuck, or unsure of your place in the world.
My own lived experience and clinical work have shown me that meaningful change is possible when you find a therapeutic relationship where you feel safe enough to be fully yourself.
I offer a space where you can begin to take back a sense of choice and control in your life, at your own pace, without pressure. If you’re ready to begin that process, I welcome you to get in touch.
I offer counselling sessions in person in Somerset, as well as online via video and walk-and-talk sessions. Appointments are available on most weekdays, with evening sessions also offered.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am an experienced mental health practitioner and qualified counsellor, registered with the BACP. I have worked with organisations including Mind, Trauma Foundation South West, and STARS.
I have a L4 Diploma in Counselling Practice and hold additional qualifications in trauma-informed practice and mentalisation-based approaches.
I am also a Mental Health First Aider with MHFA England and have completed Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST).
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I understand that starting therapy can feel daunting, especially if you’ve had difficult experiences in the past or are living with long-standing challenges. I work at a pace that feels right for you, with an emphasis on safety, trust, and collaboration. You will never be pushed to talk about anything before you’re ready, and your voice and choice are always central to our work together.
