About me

I know how scary it can be to reach out and ask for help, especially when life is already a struggle. I believe that nobody should have to face their difficulties alone. Which is why I commit to providing you with a warm, accepting and safe space where we can explore your challenges together.

My experience includes (but is not limited to);

  • Autism
  • ADHD
  • Chronic illness
  • Health problems
  • Disabilities
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Family issues
  • Low self esteem
  • Intrusive thoughts
  • Bereavement/loss
  • Relationship problems

How I work:

I am passionate about making counselling easy to access by providing video,  telephone and instant chat (text) sessions that you can attend from any safe and private space.

I am an integrative humanistic counsellor, meaning I use a combination of humanistic approaches, including person-centred therapy, to ensure that the counselling sessions are tailored to your individual needs. I practice a collaborative approach, working with you to understand your challenges so that you can find your own answers.

About me:

I have lived experience of neurodivergence, having identified as being autistic in my 30s and currently awaiting formal diagnosis. I live in a neurodiverse household which has included raising children with additional support needs/SEN. So I understand how challenging it can be to navigate these systems. This personal experience inspired me to undertake additional training in working with neurodivergent clients and is an area that I specialise in.

I also lived experience of chronic illness, understanding first hand how difficult and isolating it can be. I am aware of how important my own personal counselling journey has been for understanding and accepting my new 'normal'. This is why I also have a special interest in working with individuals who are experiencing chronic illness, chronic pain, autoimmune disorders and other 'hidden disabilities'.

Before working as a counsellor I had 15 years experience working with vulnerable individuals, often in crisis situations, going through some of the most challenging times of their lives.

Group therapy:

I offer online group therapy for individuals who are late/self diagnosed autistic. This consists of 8 weekly online sessions covering topics such as identity, masking, communication, emotions and more. Sessions are 90 minutes long and cost £30 per session. There will be no more than 6 people in each group.

From the one to one work I do with autistic clients, as well as my personal experience, I understand that isolation, not belonging and being misunderstood are common struggles. Many of us seeking connections with other autistic people, through social media, books, podcasts etc. extremely helpful. Group therapy can provide you with this much needed connection whilst guiding you to explore what autism means for you and how it has impacted your life and experiences.

If you are interested in group therapy please get in touch and I will arrange to contact you and carry out a pre-group assessment.

What next?

I believe that finding the right counsellor for you is the most important thing when starting out on this journey. That's why I offer a free 20 minute consultation for us to get to know each other a little, to see how we might work together and for you to decide if I am the right fit for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
