About me

Hi, I'm Tara, thank you for visiting my profile. I know it can be daunting choosing a counsellor so I want to thank you for considering me and let you know a bit about me. I am kind, warm, inclusive, and empathetic and try to create a safe, nurturing space where you can feel heard and accepted. I understand that everyone's journey is unique, and I am here to support you, without judgment.

I have experience working across areas such as anxiety, depression, low mood, feeling stuck, relationship issues, confidence, trauma, and more. I aim to be compassionate and respectful of your process.

How Counselling can help

Drawing from personal experience, I truly believe in the power of therapy as a space that can help you get to know yourself better and connect with your needs and feelings.

Above all, my aim is to support you with care and compassion, creating a space where you feel safe to share. We can talk about anything you would like to, and you can set the pace. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship can help you in your healing from past traumas, challenge coping mechanisms that may no longer be helpful, and offer a sometimes much needed space that is just yours.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • I am a fully qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist with a Master’s degree from the University of the West of England with distinction.

Counselling with me

I will listen to you with strong empathy so together we can shape the sessions around what feels right for you. That might include exploring how past experiences or early relationships are showing up in your life now. If it feels helpful, we can also pay attention to how your body holds emotions – especially if words are hard to find. I can also offer creative approaches if that's something you're drawn to, or sometimes having a space to talk through whatever is on your mind can be enough. I’ll be there alongside you with warmth, honesty, and respect. I truly believe this is a shared journey, and that you’re the expert on your life.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
