About me

Where are you “stuck”?

Maybe you’re wondering why you can’t get past something that keeps coming up. Or make sense of a situation. You may be feeling restless, sad, frustrated or experiencing anxiety or depression. Working together, we will explore your unique life experiences to help you understand more about your thoughts, feelings, behaviours and relationships.

I will facilitate you through the process of getting “unstuck” so that you can move forward. This may be uncomfortable at times; there will be challenges along the way. Through exploration you will have opportunities to consider new perspectives and learn new coping mechanisms. We may discover issues from the past that influence how you navigate life today; exploring these can help give meaning to past experiences and enable you to approach future opportunities with a different mindset.

I consider myself an active participant in your therapy and will encourage you to do the same. I am trained as an integrative therapist; this means I draw on a range of humanistic, psychodynamic and cognitive theories that can be tailored to your individual needs, creating a bespoke therapeutic experience.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified and fully insured therapist and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. This means I adhere to an ethical framework which guides my practice and provides you with the reassurance that there are professional standards you can expect.

I hold the following qualifications:

  • Foundation Degree (FdA) in Integrative Counselling
  • Stage 1 Diploma in counselling children and young people (11-18)
  • Level 2 Certificate in Mental Health Awareness

As with my therapeutic approach, I am hugely invested in how to be the best therapist I can be for you. Therefore I undertake regular professional development to enhance my practice. I have completed additional training in the following:

  • The Art of Psychodynamic Therapy
  • Neurodivergence awareness
  • Introduction to issues arising from Domestic Abuse
  • Working with Trauma
  • ADHD & Hormones: The neuroscience of neurodivergent women
  • ‘Seeing a System’ A Gestalt Approach to Counselling
  • Working with Couples
  • Couples Revisited - a 2:2 Approach
  • Positive Psychology
  • Working with the Male Psyche
  • Head, heart and gut thinking
  • Suicide awareness.

I bring over 20 years’ experience in management and business, as well as recent experience running a therapy centre. This gives me a grounded understanding of workplace stress, responsibility and organisational dynamics, and how these can shape our emotional world and relationships.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Couples Therapy (Dual-Therapist Relationship Counselling)
Additionally, I work with couples in person through Somerset Counselling Centre, where low-cost rates are available to ensure affordable support for our community.

Using a unique 2:2 format, your relationship is supported by two qualified therapists working together. Having a dual-perspective dynamic creates a balanced, secure space where both partners feel equally heard, understood, and supported, and provides rich, diverse insights to help unpack complex relationship patterns.

To request a couples consultation, please contact me for further information.
