About me
Welcome. My name is Tanja, and I’m a qualified pluralistic counsellor. Thank you for being here and taking this first step in exploring support.
Whatever made you start this search; sometimes life throws unexpected and difficult challenges in our way. Or you might sense that now is the right the time to open up to someone about what you might have bottled up for a long time. I aim to offer a welcoming, safe and non-judgemental space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and emotions.
Sometimes it may feel difficult being able to speak to someone about what is going on in the inside, including to the people close to us. We may fear being judged for our thoughts, feelings and emotions. We may feel that our feelings and thoughts are not important. Maybe, we simply don’t have the time to pause in our busy lives, or we may be too busy looking after others while trying to push our own thoughts and feelings aside. Sometimes, suddenly it all feels too much. This is where counselling can help.
How can I help
I am a registered Pluralistic counsellor. What does this mean? As a Pluralistic counsellor I hold the believe that one size does not fit all. This implies that different therapeutic methods can be useful for different clients at different times. It implies the commitment to value the uniqueness of each individual while respecting their diverse perspectives. My core modality is Humanistic while being able to incorporate aspects from a variety of different modalities. This results in therapy being tailored around your personal needs and that through collaboration we will find out together what works best for you and what pace works best for you.
I aim to create a safe space for you to freely explore your thoughts, feelings and emotions while being able to freely express them. As I always say to my clients “this is your space”. Clients often feedback, that they find me easy to talk to, and appreciate my direct and straightforward approach within a safe, non-judgmental space.
How would that work?
Collaboration is the cornerstone of Pluralistic counselling. This includes shared decision making in identifying your goals, tasks and methods to be able to get the most out of your counselling journey. Through regular dialogue and feedback, we will try to collaboratively align your individual needs to ensure that the therapeutic process remains helpful. Throughout you will be viewed as the agency. This means that you are viewed as the own expert in your life. I will not be able to give you any advice, but I’ll be able to support you to recognise your own thoughts, feelings, and actions, to mobilize your own resources to be able to take initiative, responsibility, and control over your live.
I did have the honour of working with a variety of people from all sorts of backgrounds with an emphasis on building a strong therapeutic relationship which is based on mutual trust.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified Pluralistic counsellor and registered with the BACP.
I have collected many experiences in supporting individuals from all walks of lives, backgrounds, ages and genders through often challenging and difficult times. I gained experience whilst volunteering for a variety of charities while listening to clients with compassion, empathy and without judgement.
I additionally have years of experience in working with vulnerable adults. This includes individuals with learning difficulties, individuals on the neurodiverse spectrum, people with bipolar disorder.
I additionally collected experience in working with individuals who are or are in the process of being diagnosed to be on the neurodiverse spectrum, including ADHD and Tourette syndrome.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
