Tamar Challis - BSc (Hons) Psychology, Dip Therapeutic Couns, MBACP
My name is Tamar, I am a qualified and BACP registered Person-Centred Counsellor.
I am passionate and professional about counselling and I adhere to BACP ethical guidelines within my practice. Maybe you are struggling with an area of your life, if so, counselling may be able to help you. Counselling gives you a safe space to explore what is causing you difficulty and aims to help you find a way forward. It is not always an easy journey, but I am here to walk alongside you.
I specialise in working with emergency services staff and use the Rewind Trauma Therapy technique to help with nightmares and flashbacks following having witnessed, or been involved in, a traumatic event (Rewind is free for military veterans - proof of service required). Talking therapy can then be used to process whatever is bothering you, without the fear of flashbacks.
I also work women's issues, such as: life transitions (new parents, divorce, menopause, retirement and preparing for end of life). I am also accredited to work with pregnancy and infant loss and bereavement to work with parents and birth professionals around birth, pregnancy or postnatal trauma.
I am also a Level 5 ILM Coach, which can be used where you have a specific goal you'd like to work towards. I'm happy to work with most issues, short and long term, so please get in touch either by phone, text or email and we can discuss your needs.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have experience working in a women’s charity and a university and provide short and long term counselling to both men, women and non-binary individuals with a wide range of issues. I also have training to work with dissociative identity disorder and I am a workplace mediator.
To help put your mind at ease: I hold an enhanced DBS certificate (previously known as CRB), I have the relevant professional indemnity and public liability insurance. I am ICO registered, which means I am registered with the UK’s independent authority set up to uphold information rights in the public interest.
