About me

I offer Jungian Analysis and psychotherapy and I am a registered UKCP supervisor.  I work from the premise that our minds and bodies are always seeking to become healthy, and the symptoms from which we suffer are signals that we need to rebalance ourselves in some way. Psychotherapy and analysis seek to do this by talking things through, and as we do this, the energy that we need to feel better is naturally released.  Jungian analysis, in particular, works from "the inside out". We work with dreams and the images that arise spontaneously from the imagination in order to understand the dynamics in the unconscious that are manifesting as problems in consciousness.

Much of my work is with people suffering from symptoms for which they see no obvious reason - anxiety, depression, panic attacks or a vague sense of loss of purpose. Symptoms like these can often be connected with unrecognised trauma which often has its origins very early in life, before cognition has developed. I also work with creative artists who are blocked in some way - writers, musicians, visual artists and actors.

I offer supervision to psychotherapists, counsellors and Jungian Analysts.

I also offer group seminars and workshops to practising therapists on a wide ranging  variety of topics such as the  effects of early infant trauma,  fairy tale interpretation and dream analysis.

Training, qualifications & experience

I originally trained as a psychodynamic counsellor, qualifying in 1991. I later went on to train as a Jungian Analyst, qualifying with the Guild of Analytical Psychology in 2009. In addition to these core trainings I have qualifications in Hypnosis and Regression Therapy, as well as Biodynamic Massage Therapy. I have had a private practice in Bishops Stortford since 1991.

I am registered with the UKCP in the Jungian and Analytic section and I am UKCP listed supervisor.

Jungian Analysis is particularly useful for people wanting to deepen their sense and understanding of the meaning of their lives. Whilst many people come into therapy with a specific problem, there are many others who simply want to explore their dreams, look deeper into their experience of life and relationship, and find a greater sense of fulfilment and purpose. Jungian techniques such as dream analysis and active imagination are specifically designed to unlock hidden parts of the psyche, releasing creative energy that can make us feel more alive.
