About me
I specialise in working with adults who are struggling to accept and come to terms with potential life changing neurological conditions such as stroke (including aphasia), TIA’s, Parkinsons, epilepsy and those who are neuro diverse. I was also fortunate to speak at the Stroke Alliance for Europe conference in Porto in 2019. It can be difficult to talk to those close to us for a variety of reasons but perhaps it’s just that sometimes we need to be heard without judgement or fear of hurting our loved ones.
As a fully qualified person centred counsellor with over 16 years’ experience I offer a relaxed confidential environment where clients can feel safe, respected and listened to without judgement. Time and a safe space to explore worries or concerns can help clients gain perspective, re frame their thoughts and stop repeating harmful patterns.
Perhaps you are a perfectionist or carry shame, perhaps you ruminate over the past and what the future will bring and this is having a detrimental impact on your quality of life. It could be that you have a general sense of unease or unhappiness that you can’t quite understand, perhaps you are struggling with anxiety and the mental and physical impact this is having. I will sit with you to help you and reach your potential.
Alongside my experience of working with life changing health conditions and the hidden effects of these I also work with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, trauma, rape, sexual assault, domestic violence and abuse.
As a counsellor I can help you to explore these feelings at your own pace and I feel my compassion, genuineness and warmth go a long way to building a positive rapport within the therapeutic relationship. It can be daunting talking to a stranger about your mental health however it can lead to a sense of ease, hope and acceptance.
Taking those first steps to therapy can feel difficult and finding the right counsellor can lead to clarity and a sense of peace.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
