About me
Are you struggling with low self-esteem, low mood or relationship difficulties? Do you need help with anxiety, stress or depression?
With all the change in the world at the moment, it’s understandable that you may be feeling overwhelmed and uncertain.
Worries can take over and lead to negative thoughts patterns, which in turn can negatively effect our behaviour and impact relationships with loved ones or our performance at work.
Talking to an experienced professional can really help you to gain valuable insight and find a new perspective to reaching your goals.
The best thing about counselling is that it’s completely confidential, where there is no judgement and nothing you say is silly.
I am a fully qualified psychotherapist and counsellor with many years of experience. I have an AIM level 5 Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This means you can feel secure, that I am bound by and work to their ethical framework.
I am also a fully qualified clinical supervisor (please see my supervisor profile below for more details).
I work with adults of all ages, with a range of issues including stress, anxiety, bereavement and loss, depression, family issues and relationship problems.
I provide a safe, non judgmental space, where we can discuss what is holding you back and find a way forward, at your pace and towards your desired goals.
I offer short and long term counselling, with the flexibility of daytime or evening appointments.
I work using the Person Centred Approach, but can draw on other skills such as CBT and Psychodynamic Therapy, taking the approach that is most beneficial to the client at that time.
I work in a positive and accepting way, which allows you to gain new understanding and insight into your issues.
Seeing things in a more balanced way will allow you to create positive change and to find resolutions to the challenges facing you.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Review "Susan has been amazing! I really appreciate the time Susan took to understand my situation and what I was going through. I didn't feel judged, I felt that I was being acknowledged and listened to. For the longest time I have felt very stuck in my situation however after speaking to Susan I finally feel I have the motivation to move forward in my life"
