About me

Is anxiety overwhelming you? Do you feel stuck or depressed? Have you lost your sense of purpose or direction?  Are you struggling to live with trauma or loss? Are you ready to talk but feel you can't or you don't know where to start?  I can help.

Who am I?

I am Sue and I am a qualified counsellor and I work with clients over 18.

I support individuals who are finding life difficult and possibly unbearable because of their past and/or present and who may not be able to see a future. I am experienced in areas such as historical sexual, physical, emotional abuse, bereavement, depression, anxiety and relationship issues with partners or family.

I have lived experience of the impact suicide has on a family, the journey of involuntary childlessness, adoption and a personal understanding of the mental health and life challenges individuals with ADHD can face. I also have  lived experience of the effects of substance abuse on a family.

I know from personal experience how life changing it can be to have the  opportunity to talk freely and be properly heard.

I offer 60 minute sessions, short and long term work, either face to face, video or telephone.

What to expect.

I work in a client led way to help you explore the issues you bring . You will feel empowered by being listened to, by being able to talk without judgement and by having  your feelings respected and validated.

I offer a space where you are able to speak freely in a way you may not be able to do with family or friends and you can begin to explore  past and present experiences at your own pace. You may start to gain some understanding of difficult feelings or notice unhelpful patterns of behaviour. This exploration may help you find some clarity and enable you to make more sense of your situation and feel in a better position to work out how you are going to resolve things and move ahead.

It is a huge privilege for me to be part of this process.

Training, qualifications & experience

I worked previously as a primary school teacher and then trained for four years to become a trauma informed psychotherapist. I work with over 18's who have trauma from childhood sexual abuse, domestic and emotional abuse, and those who have experienced loss from suicide, cancer and abortion. I have supported clients to navigate their way through depression, suicidal thoughts and debilitating anxiety. I have lived experience of involuntary childlessness and adoption.

Further information

I work in a  Person Centred/Integrative way and I offer no advice or solutions.

I passionately believe that everyone knows themselves best and is able to work things out with the right kind of support.

Together, through sensitive questioning and skilled reflection, we will explore your issues, without judgement and in confidence. This enables you to talk freely, and work through thoughts and feelings that you feel unable to share with anyone. This process gives you the opportunity to understand yourself more and helps you gain insight into your feelings and experiences which will help you to make your own decisions about your situation.

Therapy sessions can be long or short term and are are in-person, in a peaceful studio or online via video or by telephone. I work Monday to Friday, during the day and in the evening.
