About me

Hello - my name is Steve and I'm an Integrative Counsellor/Psychotherapist. Through lived experience I understand how difficult making sense of ourselves and the world can be, and the impact this can have on us and our relationships. I offer a safe, non judgemental and confidential space where we can explore whatever you feel is important and make sense of any issues that you would like to explore.

Working as an integrative counsellor means that I draw on different approaches to help us understand whatever you bring to our sessions. This means I draw from different counselling approaches as a way of understanding how we percieve, understand and interact in our relationships and with the world.   We can look at your experiences of the past or the present and how they might be impacting on you.

I work with all people over the age of 18 and offer short and long term counselling/therapy. I also offer time limited, focused Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) work. I am based at the Kirkley Center in Lowestoft and also have a base in Norwich. I work Tuesdays and Thursdays but can also see clients on Monday and Wednesday at specific times on those days. I am available to work on line as well.

I have a Batchelors Degree (B.A. Hons) in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I hold a Diploma in Drug Dependence and a Certficate in Humanistic Counselling skills.

I have 30 years experience of working in substance mis-use (addictions) and dual diagnosis. I also have experience of working with younger people.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • BA(Hons) Intergrative Counselling and Psychotherapy
  • Diploma In Drug Dependence
  • Certificate in Humanistic Counselling Skills.

I graduated from the University of Suffolk in 2024 after completing a full time degree in integrative counselling and psychotherapy. Since graduating, I have worked in both voluntary and paid capacities as a counsellor/therapist

I also have 6 years of experience working in acute mental health and 25 years of experience working with those experiencing difficulties with addictions.

I have also provided counselling for young people (13-18) in New Zealand and worked in health promotion for Maori and Pacific Island people.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
