About us

Hello, I'm Steve.

Does something need to change? Is that why you are here?

Maybe you are overthinking, questioning your place in the world, struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-confidence, trauma, or feeling stuck in patterns you can't quite make sense of. Have you been feeling like this for too long?

My aim isn't to help you manage symptoms, but to help you understand them & change your relationship to them. I believe our thoughts create emotions which then causes behaviour. But not every thought is useful or true. And every emotion is a signal to act or not. Every behaviour is a need wanting to be met. What is it that you need?

Together, we can join the dots between your past, relationships and limiting beliefs that have shaped how you see yourself and the world, begin making sense of what feels difficult and get to the root of your dissatisfaction.

I work with issues including anxiety, grief, depression, complex trauma (CPTSD), low self-esteem, workplace trauma, defining identity and difficult life transitions. My approach is collaborative, relational and tailored to you rather than driven by a rigid framework. In sessions, I value warmth, humour, curiosity and honesty, and I strive to create a space where you can speak openly without fear of judgement.

Counselling can offer an opportunity to slow down and listen more carefully to what your mind and body may be communicating. Rather than pushing difficult feelings away or trying to soldier on, we can explore them together, understand where they come from, and consider what they might be asking of you or protecting you from.

I believe that greater self-understanding creates the possibility for meaningful change. When we can make sense of our experiences with compassion and curiosity, we often find ourselves feeling more grounded, more connected, and better able to move forward authentically in ways that align with who we truly are.

Sessions are available online, or in person from my offices in Kirkcaldy / central Perth. Both offices have stairs to navigate.

The Kirkcaldy office occasionally has dogs present. Please consider any allergies/phobias.

Enquiries are answered within 24 hours. Please check your spam folder for replies.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.
