About me
Counselling is without judgement, a safe space to talk, to explore, to connect with, to be yourself…
Hello, I am Steph and the umbrella under which I offer services is amindfulfoundation. By way of this introduction, I wish to extend in your direction a warm welcome.
I am a fully qualified Hypnotherapist, Counsellor & EMDR practitioner offering counselling services in Halifax, Huddersfield and surrounding areas. Registered with the National Counselling Psychotherapeutic Society (NCPS) British Association Counselling Practitioners, (BACP) & National Hypnotherapy Society (NHS).
I help clients through their personal journey to find resolution and peace within themselves. I appreciate that everyone is unique and individual in what they have to offer, and your experiences, circumstances and opportunities will have contributed to where you are now.
Therapy is about exploring connections, evaluating, coming to terms with, feeling, recognising and making change, be it minor or major, in the way you think, assess, feel, respond or behave.
To this end it is my aim to provide you with a really safe space to talk, to explore, to connect with, a safety net to catch you should you fall, offer you compassion and understanding. Together we can consider, open doors, sit with your sadness, anger, resentments, shame, embarrassment, fears, special moments, hopes, dreams, no judgement whatsoever.
Whatever challenges you are facing from day to day, drawing on various therapeutic approaches helps and empowers you to make the changes you want in your life. It is a flexible and powerful way to effect more lasting change. I have faith in you, that through this process, you will find your personal blueprint to your life as intended, and find the answers that are just right for you.
My practice utilises a combination of Trauma informed, Person Centred therapy, with a Psychodynamic approach, in a non judgemental and ethical space, focusing on you and your needs. I also offer CBT where it is deemed a suitable therapeutic intervention.
I work with a diverse range of issues to support you with:
- loss such as bereavement, miscarriage/terminations, relationship breakdown, redundancy
- trauma-related difficulties - such as addiction, abuse and neglect, abandonment/rejection
- terminal illness/terminal diagnosis
- anxiety/low self esteem, loss of direction
- conflicts with identity or transition
- depression - inc post natal depression
- fear/phobias
I also offer couple counselling – be it to repair a relationship, work through a divorce or aid an ending to the relationship with dignity.
I work with children aged 13-18, adults, adults with learning disabilities or neurodiversity. With a lived experience of been part of, I also work with LGBTQ+ communities.
Sessions are either online via Zoom or, telephone or face-to-face in my private practice in the Halifax and Huddersfield areas.
I currently provide counselling at a local hospice supporting pre and post bereavement clients, also have experience of working in primary and secondary education and in private practice. I have a ton of life experience and history of working in a number of charities over the years providing services to some of the most marginalised people in society including those experiencing homeless, sex workers, women fleeing domestic abuse and those living with a mental health illness.
On a personal level, I have also undertaken my own therapeutic journey, so as to better understand trauma in my past, putting myself in the same vulnerable space as my clients. To this end I have tremendous respect and appreciation for any person willing to take the courageous step and put faith in the process so they too can find peace within their lives, and value that each journey or story is unique and exceptional, all we need to do is find a way to make sense of ourselves, the relationships/emotional connections around us, what and how we contribute to them.
I look forward to hearing from you and sharing your story, all it takes is a little courage… TAKE PRIDE IN HOW FAR YOU HAVE COME AND HAVE FAITH IN HOW FAR YOU CAN GO…

Experience
I am an integrative (pluralistic) counsellor mostly utilising person centred approach and on occasion exploring psychodynamic /CBT modalities when deemed suitable.
I currently provide counselling services in a Hospice one day a week working with pre & post bereavement and clients with life limiting ill health. Until recently, I have worked in both secondary and primary schools and provide private practice predominantly to individual adults, developing scope and a desire to work with couples.
I bring a fair bit of life experience and professional history of working in a number of charities over the years providing services to some of the most marginalised people in society including those experiencing homeless, sex workers, women fleeing domestic violence and those living with a mental health illness.
I am constantly looking at ways to learn and grow, in my therapeutic practice.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
