About me
My approach is gentle, compassionate and person-centred. I believe there is often more beneath the surface of what we see, and I aim to create a space where people can explore their experiences without judgement, at their own pace.
I am a qualified, experienced counsellor and psychotherapist and a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). I hold a clear enhanced DBS check and professional indemnity insurance. I have trained and practice in the Person Centred Experiential Approach where the individual, alongside the core conditions of empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard remain at the core of my therapy work. I work with private and/or self-referred adult and children clients, employees referred through their workplace and with looked after children referred by their carers and support teams.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a BSc (Hons) Counselling and Psychotherapy which has provided me with a strong foundation in counselling theory, therapeutic practice and working relationally with clients.
I have passionately continued to build on my experience post qualifying, and being fortunate enough to work for the UK’s largest children’s charity. It was here where I was able to support young people and families through in person and online counselling sessions, whilst working within education provisions and community settings.
I have supported adults with their mental health, whilst volunteer counselling within the Third Sector and community settings. Previous to my counselling role, I have had the opportunity to be a part of the support system for looked after children and their families, offering therapeutic support and care.
My extensive experiences mean that I am competent in risk assessing and safeguarding children, young people and adults.
I have warm heartedly supported adults and children when navigating a wide range if challenges some of which were, life changes, transitions, neurodiversity related challenges, systemic trauma, anxieties, stress, overwhelm and burnout, attachment, grief/loss and bereavement and experiences of neglect or abuse.
I have particular experience supporting people with complex family circumstances, changes in relationships, feeling misunderstood and having difficulties making sense of emotions and the world around them.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
