About me
I am an experienced psychotherapist and psychodynamic counsellor. I have worked in counselling services in culturally diverse communities, and in low-fee psychotherapy clinics and in private practice. I work with gentleness and sensitivity with anxiety and the emotional difficulties that can affect our health, our relationships, and our well-being.
Empathy, quietly-held attention and understanding are central to my work.
Depression, low mood, a loss of confidence, anxiety about our close relationships, parenting and caring issues, a bereavement, challenges presented by a life change, the enduring effects of childhood experiences, and questions around identity and difference are among the many things that can affect our sense of self-worth and our ability to live a fulfilling life.
Counselling provides a space and regular time in which difficulties can be spoken about and explored.
The thought of meeting with a therapist can be daunting, but it provides the opportunity to make sense of your individual circumstances. My practice is a safe place in which you may talk in confidence about whatever may be troubling you.
My approach is relational, therapeutic, and non-judgmental.
The initial consultation gives you an opportunity to tell me about yourself and your situation, and to see if you feel comfortable talking with me.
The frequency of the sessions and the benefits of short or longer term courses of therapy are discussed. Courses of therapy are generally offered as open-ended agreements.
Sessions are 50 minutes in length, and are held weekly at the same time and on the same day of the week.
Initial consultations are given without obligation.
Reduced-fee therapy can be requested.
I welcome inquiries.
All sessions are private and confidential.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
