About me
Welcome, my name is Dr Soad Nasr, and I am a Clinical Psychologist based in Glasgow. I offer a range of services including psychological therapy, coaching and clinical supervision. I meet clients in-person, online or as ‘walk and talk’ sessions in Kelvingrove Park.
The many years I have spent working in clinical practice as well as my own life experience has taught me that meeting challenges along life’s journey– no matter who we are or what stage we are at– is part of what makes us human. It is at difficult times like these when seeking some professional support can help us along our way. I believe that effective therapy or coaching relies on a positive therapeutic relationship, and this means you feeling safe and connected with your therapist. I provide a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space for you to explore your difficulties.
As a clinical psychologist I am trained in a number of therapeutic models. This means I can draw upon a variety of approaches to respond to your unique needs, rather than trying to fit your needs into one specific therapeutic modality. As well as offering evidence-based psychological therapy in a way that is flexible and integrative, I take a holistic approach to my client’s problems. One of the ways I do this by acknowledging the relationship between the body and the mind and the important intersection between physical and emotional wellbeing. The way I work also takes into account our most fundamental human needs and the significance of our connections to meaningful community, creativity, pleasurable activity and the natural world.
I work primarily with adults, including young adults from 17 years+, and offer psychological therapy and coaching as well as clinical supervision to other therapists. I draw upon a range of therapeutic modes such as Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), as well as systemic and person-centred approaches. I can discuss these models, and how I work, in more detail when we meet.
Some examples of why people may seek psychological help and of difficulties I have helped people with include:
- Anxiety/stress /panic
- Low mood / Depression
- Relationship problems
- Difficulties associated with loss and bereavement
- Difficulties associated with change, adjustment and life transitions
- Problems associated with trauma
- Emotional regulation difficulties
- Work/employment issues
- Health-related difficulties
- Social isolation
- Low self-esteem
- Anger
