About me
My name is Siúan and I am an Irish psychotherapeutic counsellor operating a private practice in North East London. Reaching out to a therapist can be challenging and it can be difficult to know what to expect. I hope the information provided here will help you to understand a little bit about my practice and what I can offer you.
I believe therapy should be a collaborative space where we can work together to identify what will most support you to live life as your fullest and most authentic self. My training is in Gestalt Psychotherapy, so this will inform my approach.
I will work creatively with you to build a space of relational safety where an open and non-judgemental dialogue can take place between us. My aim is to understand your unique experience of the world and increase your own awareness of this too. I believe that you are the expert in your own experience, and my job is to help you get to know yourself more deeply so that you can feel empowered to manage the challenges and relationships in your life more effectively.
My approach is trauma-informed and holistic, which means I place equal value on mind and body in the therapy room. I feel it is important to consider lived experience and the environmental and social context of our lives, in addition to interpersonal relationships. I hope this enables me to practice therapy inclusively and create a welcoming and supportive setting for us to work together.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor and an individual member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). My professional background is in supporting survivors of trauma and abuse for organisations in the women’s sector. I have an MA in Gender Studies, and a diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling from Metanoia Institute and am in my final years of training for an MSc in Gestalt Psychotherapy.
I can offer support in a range of areas; below are some of my key areas of experience as a practitioner.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
